Animals to see in Yellowstone National Park.

We all know that Yellowstone has an amazing diversity of WildLife. But how many animals live in Yellowstone National Park?

Well, according to National Park Service:

  • 67 species of mammals, including seven species of native ungulates and two species of bear

  • Two threatened species: Canada lynx, grizzly bears

  • Six species of reptiles

  • Five species of amphibians

  • 16 species of fish (five nonnative)

  • More than seven aquatic invasive species (three having significant detrimental effect)

  • 285 species of birds (150 nesting)

Of course, there are animals that everyone wants to see in Yellowstone National Park. The A-list Yellowstone celebrities, according to public, include:

  1. Bears: Everyone wants to see a bear, especially if you spot one with cubs. It's considered a highlight of any trip to the park!

  2. Bison (Buffalo): These guys are easy to find in the park, and you can almost guarantee that you'll see at least one. Their large size makes them hard to miss.

  3. Elk: Elks are magnificent animals, especially bucks with their huge antlers. They're quite common in the Yellowstone area. The park even reintroduced wolves to keep the elk population in check. You can find them in the Yellowstone Lake area and in the Mammoth Hot Springs Area.
